HEALTHY EATING

Senior 2 and Senior 3 had a guided tour of Supervalu recently with Niamh who is  a Nutrionist. Niamh spoke to us about the Food Pyramid and how important it is that we eat from the different Food groups each day.We got to taste Spelt and Honey bread from the bakery. We also got to taste blueberries and avocado which a lot of us had not tasted before. At the butchers we tasted Smoked Salmon and Chicken . We then moved on to the dairy section where we tried Mozarella and Feta cheese. We also got the chance to try Almond and Soy milk. We found it to be a really good experience as many of us tried out new foods for the first time.

An Unusual Visitor

Heather from Dogs Trust Ireland visited us last week with TED her dog.  She came as part of the Junior cert Short Course ‘Caring For Animals’.  Many classes throughout the school got to meet TED.  They can have up to 200 rescue dogs at their center at any one time. Heather took TED in after he was found abandoned in very poor condition.  Dogs Trust Ireland rely totally on donations to run the service.
